Bio
Annika Huett is the collector who loves junk. All things great and small are transformed into interior design and art. ''I save everything from kitschy souvenirs and old labels to pieces of wallpaper and smashed porcelain'', she says. Annika makes mosaic compositions, cross-stitch embroidery and wall paintings, but works primarily as an illustrator. Her style is colourful and decorative with a touch of the playful. She often uses words in her images and is inspired by contemporary comments that she picks up here and there. Annika has collaborated on two books with her husband, photographer Ulf Huett Nilsson: ''Pergola, tombola, picnics'', which deals with the topic the Swedish summer, and an interior design book called ''Details at home''. Four years ago, Annika's humorous tribute to cross-stitch ''Your mother doesn't work here - a modern look at cross-stitch'' was published. The book was very well received and resulted in an exhibition at Kulturhuset in Stockholm, and in a top-selling embroidery-kit for tea towels featuring the messages ''But I did the dishes yesterday'' and ''Pure hell''.
