Marcin Kosmowski was born 1977 in Bielsko-Biala in Poland.

His genuine interest in photography derived from his parent´s huge archive of old family photos, which he would pore over with great fascination as a child. At twelve years of age Marcin´s father gave him his first camera, a Russian Zenit, which he still owns today.

His first pictures were more often than not documentary, but he felt that there were too many unwritten rules to adhere to and too much that was prohibited.

Instead he focused on fashion and lifestyle, where he felt freer to create his own fictional stories with his pictures. He names the Swinging London photographer David Bailey as one of his great role models.

But even his own Polish heritage, and a kind of Eastern European realism, supply much of his inspiration.
