Kajetan Kandler photographed the ’kids need friends’ campaign for the Deutsche Kinderhilfswerk children’s charity
The current campaign for Deutsche Kinderhilfswerk is in keeping with its 40-year tradition, dedicated to helping neglected and poverty-stricken children.
Kajetan KANDLER photographed the campaign motifs, which visualise hunger, loneliness and coldness. The following questions are being asked in the campaign: ‘How long is a school day when you're starving?’, ‘How can you play when there is nothing to play with?’ and ‘How 'cool' is snow when you don't even have a jacket?’.
“2.7 million children are living in poverty in Germany. Therefore, our anniversary year centres on the mantra 'Children need joy'. If children happen to suffer from terrible starting conditions in their life, we support them directly, support and promote education, nourishment and leisure projects”, explains Dr. Heide-Rose Brückner, national president of the Deutsche Kinderhilfswerk e.V.
The Deutsche Kinderhilfswerk e.V (DKHW) was founded on the 17th of February 1972 by entrepreneurs and salesmen in Munich. The aim of the foundation was to increase the quality of playgrounds in Germany.
In addition to this, the Kinderhilfswerk annually published the Kinderreport Germany addressing matters of child poverty. The Kinderreport 2007 raised a lot of eyebrows when it stated that the number of children living in poverty in Germany doubles every ten years.
The supervising agency was TBWA advertising GmbH with AD Sarah Gerckens and CD Diana Pauser.
