Camera Work : fashion photographs over 9 decades

With “FACE/project“, photographer Michelangelo Di Battista and illustrator Tina Berning c/o 2AGENTEN present the results of their artistic collaboration. The project will be exhibited in the “Fashion” group exhibition at the Camera Work Gallery in Berlin.

Over 250 pieces by 66 photographers from the 20th and 21st centuries document the movements within fashion photography over the decades. They both reflect the Zeitgeist of each given epoch as well as the desires and dreams of its generation.

From the classic compositions by Edward Steichen, to Man Ray’s experimental photos, the sexual revolution and the equal rights of women’s emancipation as interpreted by Helmut Newton amongst others, or the cool elegance of 1990’s Peter Lindbergh, the exhibited photographs cover every nook and cranny, including a whole bunch of must-see vintage prints.

The limited edition prints of classic work to contemporary favourites by artists such as Steven Meisel, Ellen von Unwerth, Michelangelo Di Battista and Tina Berning will be up for your viewing pleasure for two months. A lot of the current artists will attend the opening on September 19, 2008, at 7pm.
