Chanel Prêt-à-Porter Show in Paris : backstage in high heel clogs with Xiang Sun
The Grand Palais was given a charming rustic feel at this year’s Prêt-à-porter shows in Paris. Karl Lagerfeld’s latest collection for Chanel was inspired by Marie Anoinette’s farm in Versailles, where she would wile away many a secret hour with her affairs.
The models dressed in fairy-like gowns and high heel clogs, or even simply barefoot, made their way through the country-style barn construction. Lara Stone and Freja Beha even had the pleasure of frolicking in the hay with Lagerfeld’s darling Baptiste Giabiconi.
Xiang Sun captured what went on behind the scenes. The insightful pictures show the last minute backstage touches in full swing. Excited girls hold hands, away from the spotlights they come across as all the more childlike and nervous.
Details can be discovered which are difficult to notice even in front row seats. Painted Chanel chains grace towering skinny pins, art-deco style floral jewellery decorates hands and nails shimmer in dark beige.
The show leaves plenty of room for illusions – both in front of and behind the scenes.
