Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2011 - GoSee congratulates photographer Jim Goldberg
Only four finalists have been chosen from a list of 70 nominated artists for the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2011: Roe Ethridge, Thomas Demand, Jim Goldberg and Elad Lassry.
On April the 26th, the international jury awarded Jim Goldberg with the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2010 at the Photographer’s Gallery in London.
The Deutsche Börse Photography Price is awarded annually at the Photographer’s Gallery in London – where the four finalists’ exhibition will be shown until the 1st of May 2011 at the Ambika P3 in Westminster University.
Subsequently, it will be exhibited at The Cube, the company headquarters of the Gruppe Deutsche Börse in Eschborn.
The candidates for the Deutsche Börse Photography Price are chosen by the ‘Academy’, a group of more than hundred international photography experts. They nominate on contemporary photographer of any nationality respectively.
The international jury is re-staffed every year and chooses four out of all the finalists of which one is finally elected to be the sole winner.
The members of this year’s jury were: Alex Farquharson (Director, Nottingham Contemporary, Great Britain), Marloes Krijnen (Founding director, Foam Photography museum Amsterdam, Netherlands), Joel Sternfeld (Artist, USA) and Anne-Marie Beckmann (Curator, Art Collection Deutsche Börse, Germany). Brett Rogers, the director of the Photographers’ Gallery was the chair(wo)man (no vote).
