ANTWERP BIG • The phenomenal, unique, kaleidoscopic world of Walter van Beirendonck in Antwerp's MOMU
We like it colourful, crazy and admittedly a little bit loco at times. Be it in the arts, photography, fashion, or in the editor's office. So, what is it you might ask we are looking forward to the most this autumn? Of course, the first play-it-big retrospective by Belgian designer Walter von Beirendonck. Often copied but clearly unrivalled.
For over three decades, he has been inspiring us with his variety of talents. Apart from his designs, we will never forget his fashion shows in Paris during the 1990s (before the Berlin-Brain-Drain, when the city at the Seine used to be cool) or his W.&L.T. Label.
Walter's fascination with the ethnic, spirituality, the supernatural, technology, science fiction, comics, beauty and all things larger-than-life, you can never get closer to his secrets than the Antwerp MOMU this autumn.
And that's not all: Walter and photographer Nick Knight/SHOWstudio.com, stylist Simon Foxton and GQ style UK developed an exclusive photography and video project for the exhibition. Got-to-see!
The catalogue will be published by Lannoo Publishers (Dutch) & ACC (for Brits), hard cover, 240 pages.
