It's a mans world .... actor and Academy Award winner Benicio del Toro is the first CAMPARI man
For the first time, a male actor will be the star of the Campari calendar 2011 ‘The Red Affair’. Actor and Academy Award winner Benicio del Toro inherits quite a big responsibility after twelve years of female hegemony, including Salma Hayek, Eva Mendes and Jessica Alba.
Michel Comte photographed the star, who was awarded the Academy Award for his performance in ‘Traffic’ and played the role of Freddy Fenster in ‘The Usual Suspects’. A particularly nice touch to the pictures is the fact that they narrate a cinematic adventure.
Bob Kunze-Concewitz, CEO of the Campari group on the campaign: “To celebrate our 150th birthday, we wanted to steer the calendar into a new and exciting direction. When we decided to break with tradition and cast a male star for the calendar, Benicio immediately sprung to mind as the ideal person.”
Benicio del Toro was exclusively styled for the occasion by Ermenegildo Zegna, the Italian luxury menswear brand. In 2010, the actor adorned the silver screens in the film ‘Wolfman’. In this remake of the 1941 horror classic, he played the leading role alongside Anthony Hopkins. Furthermore, he is part of the 63rd jury of the Cannes Film festival.
The final choice of images, the story and the style of the calendar were unveiled on the red carpet on the 21st of October in Milan.
