Recycling all over – even in the world of fashion. There are handbags made from truck canvas covers, wallets made from drinks cartons and sandals that used to be water containers. The Zirkeltraining brand turns the covers of vintage gymnastic apparatuses into a bag collection with appropriate brand names such as rack, bar or handstand and they are enjoying international acclaim.
The 'root' of Bernd Dörr's idea was his new neighbour, a trader in replacement parts, who specialised in the repair of old gymnastic apparatuses. In principle, both worked towards the same goal, make something new from something old, yet they do it in different ways. Dörr saved the discarded goods and resurrected them into something wearable.
The collection is made up of travel bags, padded laptop cases, wallets and handbags for the girls.
“The retro-athletic fashion world is lacking exclusive and high quality bags. Our unique items tell a lot of stories and everyone can identify with our materials”, explains the entrepreneur.
Advertiser Markus Kreykenbohm was commissioned to produce the accompanying marketing campaign. Kreykenbohm was responsible for creation and communication. Maria Brinkop photographed model Sara-Pia Zimmermann looking suitably retro and athletic.
Zirkeltraining products are available from Gravis Apple Stores, Lufthansa Worldshops and exclusive bag stores around Europe and Japan. Furthermore, the label was awarded the ispo BrandNew Award and nominated for the German Design Award 2010. We are happy to pass on our congratulations and are already saving them a place on the winner’s platform.
