25° Hyères Festival of fashion & photography presents exhibitions and fashion shows by international young talents
For the 25th year, the Hyères Festival will welcome international young talents from the fashion and photography industries at Villa Noailles. Director Jean-Pierre Blanc invites visitors to attend exhibitions, fashion shows, talks and last but not least, the big competition which sees the jury, made up of renowned industry figures, select ten young photographers and fashion designers respectively.
The 3-day festival starts with an opening cocktail on 30 April. Each year the event attracts many interested guests, such as designers, trend analysts, agents, buyers, textile companies, publishers, gallerists, museum directors and department stores; thus providing new talents with the opportunity of presenting themselves and their work, whilst making valuable contacts in the process.
Renowned names such as Viktor & Rolf, Gaspard Yurkievich and Henrik Vibskov presented their first collections in the fashion competition. This year’s designers include Yiqing Yin, Isabel Mastache Martinez, Nada van Dalen and even Tsolmandakh Munkhuu from Mongolia.
The fashion jury comprises, amongst others, Dries van Noten, Vogue Hommes Editor in Chief Olivier Lalanne and Pascal Mussard from Hèrmes. Sadly, composer and artist Malcom McLaren will no longer be able to take part as previously planned. His death has left his friends and colleagues with a gaping hole in their hearts:
“Malcolm's death has come as a great shock to us all and in a way the ultimate expression of his gentle anarchy. Malcolm, we miss you already and will certainly miss you more over the days of the festival”, says the Hyères Festival and President of the Fashion Jury Dries van Noten.
The Photography Competition has launched many a career and is looking forward to this year viewing the works of Yvonne Lacet, Robin Schwartz and James Reeves. The winners will also be chosen by a renowned jury, which has comprised photographers such as Oliviero Toscani, Walter Pfeiffer and Susanna Brown from the Victoria & Albert Museum.
