A round of applause for the Saatchi & Saatchi New German Directors Showcase 2010. Premiere at the ADC Festival and after party at the UPdate

This year’s Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors' Showcase began with a spectacle by the Antagon Theater performance group. Over 400 visitors were there for the event at the ADC exhibition in Frankfurt and listened to the 33-minute presentation by Burkhart von Scheven (CCO, Saatchi & Saatchi Deutschland) and Michael M. Maschke (Head of Creative Services, Saatchi & Saatchi Deutschland).

Mr Maschke summed up the event as follows:

"This year, the Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors' Showcase once again attracted over 160 entries. From short films to commercials, animations and video clips, plenty of film directions were covered. This formed the perfect basis for the direction contest, which is dedicated to showcasing new talents, of all film disciplines, to the advertising sector.

Once again, a total of 15 works by 13 directors made it into the 2010 Showcase. Although the videos cover various approaches, they are all united by a great combination of talent, skill and passion.”

Amongst the many good and relevant entries, he found Basia Baumann’s ‘Sara’ short film to be particularly eye catching. “I would categorise this as an anti-war film, which compares to the authenticity and effect of many great works of the genre.”

The NGDSC 2010 is far from low brow: current affairs and tragedies were mirrored in the entries – and added to the real film experience.

Sudden applause broke out in the audience during the presentation and celebrated the talented directors. Afterwards the attendant filmmakers met up with advertisers and clients at a casual get together and were happy to make some first contacts.

At 17:00 on the dot, the Saatchi & Saatchi New German Directors Showcase 2010 and Art Buying Team headed over to the UPdate GoSee Champagne Lounge to celebrate their second presentation and ADC premiere. We will present the best films on GoSee over the coming week.
