ADC Festival 2010 : three days of creativity at the River Main metropolis and a big hand for the creative newcomers

This year was the first that the ADC Festival didn’t take place in Berlin, moving instead to Frankfurt, in the middle of Germany. Despite all prophecies of doom, plenty of creatives and newcomers met up for the creative weekend in the advertising stronghold, where they both viewed award winning work and accepted countless awards.

Even though several jurors initially felt rather odd in their accommodation in Frankfurt’s famed red light district, the River Main metropolis – usually famed for its bankers and advertisers – ultimately managed to woo them with its urban ‘Je ne sais quoi’.

This year’s jury, comprising 286 established ADC members, rated over 6,700 entries. An additional 55 members formed the jury of the ADC Newcomer Competition.

The best work by students and juniors was also awarded during the ADC Junior Days, which took part during the large ADC summit for the first time, on 15 May at the Junior Awards at Hafen 2 in Offenbach.

This year’s FOCUS Student Award/ADC Talent went to Zoe Sys Vogelius, Duncan Munge and Amadeus Henhapl from the Miami Ad School Europe, as well as Mario Zozin from the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy.

Olga Petrova from the Offenbach am Main School of Design was awarded the ADC Talent of the Year title. This year’s ADC Junior Award went to Antje Gerwien and Marian Grabmayer of DDB Berlin.

“The quality of the student work was particularly high, the variety in style was surprising and its skillful realisation was impressive.

The practical work demonstrates that juniors are often behind a lot of national and international award-winning work”, says Dr. Stephan Vogel, Jury Chairman of the ADC Newcomer Competition 2010 and ADC Board Member.
