Frankfurt on a creative high with the advertising industry - UPdate, ADC, SCREENings, NGDSC... and we are in the midst of it all, rather than simply watching from the sidelines!

Just a few more weeks left now until the big Frankfurt fest. UPdate, ADC, SCREENings, NGDSC, from the 6th to the 8th of May, Frankfurt will transform into the Mecca of the creative industry.

The third Saatchi & Saatchi NGDSC – New German Directors’ Showcase will be presented on the 7th of May at 3pm during the ADC congress. The submission deadline for new directing talents is the end of this week.

“You can submit stuff until the end of the week, that is when the jury will commence its work”, explains Michael M.Maschke, Head of Creative Services at Saatchi & Saatchi. Apart from himself, the jury is made up of Burkhart von Scheven (Saatchi & Saatchi), Andreas Simon (GAP Films), Stefan Kolle (Kolle Rebbe), Bärbel Unckrich (Horizont) and Guido Heffels (Heimat).

“Furthermore, a few people have already enjoyed our idea on facebook.de/ngdsc. Everyone is welcome to participate and post his or her interpretation of a fictional children’s drawing by a famous director. Little Quentin and Little Stanley are already on there and I am looking forward to what we might still see in the future.” We have attached several works by the ‘young artists’.

The presentation of the SCREENings Awards is also coming closer by the minute. Last year, Michael was a member of the jury, as well as a presenter. This time, he will once again be announcing the winners of the UPdate 11, for the 6th time.

“I am positive that it is about time that photographers start thinking more digitally when it comes to presenting their work. Last year’s Screenings submission only saw a limited number of examples, which capitalised on the audiovisual and interactive possibilities for the online presentation of a portfolio.

As such, I am looking forward to seeing how the developments of the last 12 months will manifest themselves and of course to the awards ceremony in Frankfurt.”
