GoSee presents Illustrative 09 in Berlin : grand opening and Illustrative Degree Shows - 5 art colleges present installations and animation films

The Illustrative launched last Thursday, 15 October, with a huge opening party in Berlin. In addition to the exhibition in the Villa Elisabeth, around 4,000 invited guests, some in illustrious fancy dress, danced the night away at the wonderfully illuminated St. Elisabeth Church. Video artist Philipp Geist lit up the monumental architecture.

After the first exhibition weekend of the illustration festival, at the Villa Elisabeth in Berlin-Mitte until 1 November, the "Illustrative Degree Shows" will open on Friday, 23 October. This satellite exhibition is dedicated to up and coming contemporary illustrators and graphic artists.

The exhibition, which is open from 24.10 until 1.11 at the IMA Design Village, presents the graduate classes from five of Europe’s leading art colleges.

The graduate classes from the Royal College of Art (London), Central St. Martins (London), University College Falmouth (Cornwall), Züricher Hochschule der Künste (Zurich) and Kunsthochschule Weißensee (Berlin) will present their latest degree shows. Illustration series, art books, installations and animation films will be on show.

Selected graduates from the 2009 Degree Shows will be presented with a scholarship. The Illustrative Scholarships are aimed at young graduates in Graphics and Illustration, that are incredibly qualified and talented. Three students will be given the opportunity of living and working in the ÏMA Design Village studios. The scholarship provides them with inspiring accommodation in Berlin, enabling them to sharpen their own artistic direction.

Things will kick off with an opening party on 23 October from 6pm onwards. Live on stage: Long Lost Relative. And the awards will be presented on 24 October, followed by a party from 6pm onwards with a live performance by Superblast.
