The catalogue 'borders of a different nature – photos from Iceland' features a unique selection of both upcoming and established Icelandic photography/media artists, which tend to refer to landscape and the environment in their works.

The reader experiences a multitude of living worlds, explored by the photographer and filled with visual narratives on the vastness of the land or loss of it. Here, the landscape becomes a metaphor for desire, alienation, awe-inspiring size, tradition, irony and rebellion or performance and deficit. The same goes for the historic pictures that complement the book.

The exhibition is curated by Celina Lunsford (Fotografie Forum Frankfurt) and Christiane Stahl (Alfred Ehrhardt Stiftung, Berlin) in cooperation with Inga Lára Baldvinsdóttir (National Museum of Iceland) and María Karen Sigurðardóttir (Museum for Photography, Reykjavik) and is a part of the Art and culture program – Legendary Iceland – special guest at the Frankfurt book fair 2011.
