Photography Book Now and Blurb present THE competition for self-publishers. Deadline on 14 July!

Produced a photography book yourself? Great! Even managed to sell it? Even greater. All the work and effort that goes into the projects is now being honoured big time for the fourth time. The international Photography Book Now competition for self-published photography books is endowed with $25,000 and is accepting submissions as of now.

The creative competition, advertised by Photography Book Now and Blurb, honours the most creative and most innovative self-published books and people behind it.

Last year, 2,300 books from 40 countries participated and this year, the high-class jury made up of photographers, pictorial editors and publishers, headed by picture book expert Darius Himes, will once again take a close look at new talents.

This year will feature three categories as part of the competition: art, documentary and travel and for the first time, newcomer students will be awarded within their own student category.

“Creating a wonderfully produced photo book while maintaining absolute creative freedom – that is every artist’s dream”. Explains Eileen Gittins, founder and CEO of Blurb. “We know from earlier Photography Book Now winners that the award, the recognition by well-respected jury members as well as exhibiting on international photography events, opened up many doors for them when it comes to their professional career.”

The finalist’s books within their respective categories will become part of the permanent collections at the International Center of Photography, the Indie Photobook Library and George Eastman House.

All publications must be submitted by the 14th of July 2011 at 3pm PDT at www.photographybooknow.com. Haven't produced a picture book yet? www.blurb.com.

Fancy a little peek? On Friday the 6th of May, the publishing and marketing platform will be present with its own stall at the UPdate in Frankfurt. See you!
