SCREENings Award 2011 - awards ceremony at the UPdate 11 at Palais im Zoo. And the winners are .....

In keeping with the already established tradition, the SCREENings Award 2011 was of course presented at the UPdate 2011.

And the awards presenter has likewise established itself as a bit of a tradition. Much praise and thanks go out to mmm alias Michael M. Maschke, Head of Creative Services at Saatchi & Saatchi, Frankfurt.

Despite technical difficulties – as in a microphone disaster – Michael the professional remained cool and collected. He dryly commented: “I’ll just speak up then”. Well the winners and we certainly heard him loud and clear.

This year’s creative award winners are Petra Arnold, Amanda Camenisch and Bartholot. All three convinced the high-class jury with their unique visual language.

Cyrus C. Halabian, Juror in 2011: "This year it proved just as difficult to select three winners from the vast field of entries. The 20 absolutely worth-seeing finalists demonstrate that the approach to photography is becoming increasingly free, even to ‘commercial’ photographers.

This is surely not least due to the increasing number of presentation and marketing models the market offers. Many see this as a danger, but I am sure, that in the long-run quality will triumph as always.

This year I was particularly pleased with the feedback on the exhibition, as well as the photographers. In addition to concrete buying requests for several motifs, there were also concrete talks with the finalists – and that is exactly what this award aims to produce.”
