Seven Star Gallery, Berlin and barthouse presents: THE MEGAPOLIS TOUR #2: Bombay by Johann Rousselot

THE MEGAPOLIS TOUR is a new exhibition series on the world’s largest metropolises by barthouse culture concepts. The idea was born from the fact that soon two thirds of the world’s population will live in cities. But what will this entail for us? What influences can we expect from these megacities? Can trends be identified? Statements be made about the feeling of urbanity? A specific youth culture arise? A rhythm be foreseen?

International photographers that work on the borders of documentary and artistic photography, and are themselves part of a global in-scene present the unique flair of each city – including Sao Paulo, Delhi, Mexico City, as well as Karachi, Lagos and Dhaka in Bangladesh.

Street Photography, architectural constructions, portraits – all from an accentuated subjective view, with a strong individual signature style.

THE MEGAPOLIS TOUR #1: New York by Peer Kugler was on show during Berlin Fashion Week at 14 oz. Those that missed it will be pleased to read that it will also be displayed in a joint exhibition alongside #2: Bombay as seen through the lens of Belgian photographer JOHANN ROUSSELOT (*1971).

Johann studied Photography at the ESI in Brussels and has been a member of Oeil Public since 2001. His work has been published in Time Asia, Le Monde, L’Express, La Vie, Courrier Japan and many more. In 2003 he received the French Kodak Photography Award for his “Balkans! Beauty within the Beast“ series.

He lives in Paris, but spends most of his time travelling, and is currently in Romania working on a television documentary. He has found his own journalistic approach, yet remains aware of the need for an aesthetic outlook: "Material and aesthetic chosen reveal as important as the sociological understanding and journalistic point of view".

He has visited India on several occasions, his  "India Shining, India Crying" and "Indian Night" series were met with great acclaim and have already been published several times. "THE MEGAPOLIS TOUR: Bombay" presents the 14 best shots from both series.

A booklet containing all of the photos is published to accompany each exhibition and can be ordered from the website www.megapolistour.com.
