Antwerp makes fashion - fashion makes Antwerp. The SHOW 2011 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts - a GoSee travel recommendation
Antwerp is avant-garde, Antwerp is The Antwerp Six, including Walter Van Beirendonck, Ann Demeulemeester and Dries van Noten, Antwerp is fashion – and once a year, the Fashion Department at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts shows us exactly why. From the 16th to 18th of June 2011: The Fashion Show!
The Royal Academy of Fine Arts presents works from students of all years. We would like to draw your attention to the master works in particular, who brought their sophisticated ideas to paper and transform them into textiles within days.
As always, the show will be headed by an international jury, who judge the collections and installations. Who knows, maybe some of the students’ names will soon be found next to illustrious names and famous former students such as Martin Margiela, Bernhard Willhelm, Stephan Schneider or Veronique Branquinho.
Ones to watch: Niels Peeraer, En-Ya Vandenhende, Jantine van Peski, Leonekke Derksen, Yusuke Hotchi, Frederick Hornoff and Karolina Piech.
The three big shows are not only for invited guests. The Antwerp Hangar 29 is open to all fashion enthusiasts. Standing tickets are available for 12 Euro and seats are priced at 35 Euro Considering that you might witness future stars, a rather small price to be paid for the privilege of boasting: “I saw the designer before his clothes were on sale for 5,000 Euro . . .”
And for the most beautiful of our beautiful readers: a casting for the show will take place on the 6th and 7th of June from 9am - 5pm. Applicants must be available for the specified show dates of course. Girls from 1.75m, size 36, boys from 1.82m.
