Bulgari : 125th anniversary - birthday exhibition in Rome and the Save the Children education campaign
Bulgari is celebrating its 125th anniversary with an exhibition, which opened with a private view on 20 May at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome and will close on 13 September 2009. The retrospective titled “Between Eternity and History: 1884-2009” spans the company's history and the development of Bulgari Design from the first store's opening in the Roman Via Sistina in 1884, until today.
Numerous Italian and international stars have arrived in Rome to celebrate this historic achievement with the Bulgari family: Jessica Alba, Ginnifer Goodwin, Chloe Sevigny, Alain Delon, Patricia Field, Jason Lewis, Enrique Iglesias, Selma Blair, Samantha Morton, Elsa Pataky, Valeria Golino, Riccardo Scamarcio, Beppe Fiorello, Vittoria Puccini, Cristiana Capotondi, Gabriele Muccino, Ferzan Ozpetek, Claudio Baglioni, Luca Argentero, Stefano Accorsi, Valentina Cervi, Francesca Neri, Giorgio Pasotti, and Nicoletta Romanoff.
To mark its anniversary, the company supports the worldwide Save the Children educational “Future ? Write it !" campaign. Its goal is to enable millions of children, raised in warzones and crisis areas, to visit a school before 2010. Save the Children builds schools, supplies learning material and trains teachers.
To draw attention to this endorsement, Bulgari have created a silver ring, which is engraved with the Save the Children logo. The ring will be available in all Bulgari Stores from the 1 February until 31 December 2009 for 290 Euros. 50 Euros will be deducted from each ring sale and donated to Save the Children.
Furthermore, Bulgari will create a collection comprising 15 high quality jewellery pieces and 8 high end watches with an estimated total value of 3 million Euro. The collection will be available for viewing on Bulgari events all across the globe until its auction in New York, on 7 December 2009. The complete proceeds of this collection will be donated to Save the Children.
Hollywood stars including Julianne Moore, Ben Stiller, Sally Field, Sting, Willem Dafoe and Jason Lewis are supporting the campaign. “Education can ensure peace and break through the vicious circle of poverty and violence”, says actor and film produced Ben Stiller. The prominent supporters and their respective rings were photographed by Fabrizio Ferri.
A 376 page strong catalogue will accompany the great retrospective in Rome, available in French, Italian and English. Click here for more info.
