Chanel presents Fitting Room Follies, a short film by Karl Lagerfeld

"Fitting Room Follies", a short film by Karl Lagerfeld can now be viewed on Chanel.com. The screenplay, direction and camera are all from the hands of none other than the master of all things black and white, Karl Lagerfeld. The stars are Lara Stone and Karl’s favourite Baptiste Giacobini, as well as the “Starting Point“, Chanel Autumn-Winter 2009-2010 pre-collection.

The film was realized in the intimate atmosphere of a fitting room, rather than a studio. Its length is 5’15, and its techniques are inspired by French cinema in the late 50s and early 60s. As in wobbly, blurry and without a concept – very à la mode these days.

The music emphasises the highly emotional atmosphere through a piece of almost improvised jazz fragments, without the repetition of a melody, their rhythm is just as unpredictable as the actors and camera.

With this FILM, Karl Lagerfeld presents the “Starting Point Autumn/ Winter 2009/2010“ pre-collection. In the private environment of a fitting room – in between tweed suits, Crêpe de Chine blouses, two-tone pumps and pearl necklaces – how very Chanel – a game of subtle seduction unfolds: “She is buying these things for herself, but also to seduce him”, Karl explains. It certainly works for us
