Chang 13, creator for 4711, at 'Le Bloc' - fashion and design magic in Cologne

Last Saturday, 12 June the LE BLOC fashion and design event took place in Cologne once more. The Belgian quarter celebrated with countless open-air showrooms, garage catwalks and parties. We joined in the fun and ended up under cherry blossom trees at Chang 13. Sheer coincidence? I don’t think so.

A shop window between the Eva Gronbach and Ludvik shops was all dressed in turquoise/gold. The logo colours of the traditional 4711 Eau de Cologne local fragrance brand were mirrored in the clothes and accessories: creations by Chang 13. He was exclusively allowed to experiment with the luxurious 4711 materials.

Chang creates lots of great work. His shop is like a boutique bonbon, like a sweet shop for eye-candy loving fashionistas. His designs were amongst those by Cologne-based designers selected for the popular fashion show at the multi-storey car park on Maastrichter Straße. Avant-garde, young, new.

A moment of calm awaited us behind the turquoise/gold shop window; a tree bearing a gorgeous blossom of mini paper dollies stood proud and tall in the store. Holger Weddige c/o Heilight enchanted us with his urban Hanami creation – the futurist light installation was a sight for sore eyes.

You can count on us to attend the next one too. And in the meantime, we’ll be wishing for a tree offering yummy Chang 13 accessories for us to feast on soon.
