Fashion Designer Katie Eary - London menswear with military glamour

Katie Eary hails from the backdoor – as do her opportunities. When she graduated with an MA from the Royal College of Art in London last year, she immediately received a call from British Vogue : Mario Testino wished to shoot pieces from her graduate collection on Kate Moss. Big Bang.

The young designer actually specialises in menswear and loves to experiment with silhouettes and shapes. She compares her extroverted design process with nature, which lavishes its male creatures with attractive decorations, a prime example being the peacock.

She longs for a return to foregone times when men surrounded themselves with glamour and didn’t succumb to simplicity and practicality as driving forces.

Katie also loves military style, pompous uniforms, which she updates with a contemporary touch and her designs are influenced by street wear too. Her style is constantly aggressive and equally as eye-catching.

She lives and works in London. Her handmade pieces have been featured in various magazines such as Zoo Magazine, Vogue, Twill, Dazed&Confused and Flair.

We present her latest Autumn/Winter 2009 collection and some tasters of the looks Katie premiered at her Spring show.
