Dominic Wilcox designs miniature worlds for the autumn collection of Swedish watch label TRIWA AW12

The watches by Swedish label TRIWA are made for individualists that pay great attention to their personal style. The design team stayed true to their motto ‘adding colour’ once again to the autumn/winter collection as well as adding plenty more models to the collection.

The exciting thing is – with every collection TRIWA presents a new collaboration with artists with very different interests. This autumn British artist Dominic Wilcox worked with the watch label and created an installation that is dedicated to the various stages of the design process of a watch.

Wilcox is known for his drawings, designs and art installations and his work encompasses conceptual ideas about human behaviour and experiments with different materials. Wilcox’s goal is to find surprising moments in banal everyday life and to highlight them creatively.

Dominic Wilcox comments on his work for Swedish watch label TRIWA: ‘I have always liked to imagine that tiny people live in a secret miniature world. For the TRIWA project I created three different images, which are supposed to illustrate how a watch is made. First is the delivery of raw materials, then the workshop and finally the showroom, in which the finished models are on display. When I look at the scenes in the morning, I am almost always certain, that some of the watches have moved during the night.’

New works by the artist are currently exhibited in line with the design weeks in London. KK Outlet Gallery, London presents Wilcox’s interpretations in an exhibition fittingly titled ‘Dominic Wilcox – Variations on Normal’.
