Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin has just switched off their last set of lights, but the beautiful glow of fashion remains and leaves a visual echo behind. Considering the glamorous presentation of the Mongrels in Common Show, it is not much of a surprise.
When Vogue editor in chief Christiane Arp is entranced and a plethora of international celebrities lines the audience, the time has come for a few words about the self-proclaimed 'Mongrels'.
Last Thursday, designers Livia Ximénez-Carrillo and Christine Pluess arranged a date between Denver Clan and forestry in the historic Bärensaal of the Alten Stadthaus. Their autumn/winter collection 2011 features batwing sleeves, wide leg pleated trousers and large knots with dominating tones of black, dark blue, khaki, cognac, curry and white. Silk, cotton and cashmere, floating and gentle tailoring. An inviting accent: lime-blossom prints.
Very appropriate for the collection, the VIPs were driven to the show in Rovers and Jaguars. The guests included actress Alexandra Neldel, Muriel Baumeister, Julia Malik – without husband August Diehl – and 'We are the Night’ star Jennifer Ulrich. Furthermore, British music and film talent Natalia Kills, as well as Helen Schneider and Tanja Bülter.
The after party was a felicitous finale at another location. Imposing, and glamorous with a touch of Parisian chic and Berlin bohemia. Cheers!
