British Fashion Award : opens with 'To Lee, With Love, Nick' - Nick Knight's cinematic tribute to the late Alexander McQueen

This year's British Fashion Award was opened with a film by fashion photographer and video artist Nick Knight: 'To Lee, with Love, Nick – A Tribute to Alexander McQueen by Nick Knight', a short film featuring music by Björk, which honours the late fashion designer. Alexander McQueen was awarded the 'Outstanding Achievement' award in fashion design.

Nick Knight commented on the film, which is also featured here on GoSee: “this film is my way of speaking about a very unique and important person who changed my life. My desire was to speak in some way about the dark and the light contained within Lee, and within us all."

Phoebe Philo was awarded the 'Designer of the year' award. In recent months, she has been polishing up the Céline brand, rejuvenating it with a fresh eye for style. Traditional British brand Mulberry, every fashionista’s go to for bags, was crowned best 'Designer Brand'.

Stylist Nicola Formichetti was awarded the Isabelle Blow Award for Fashion, Alexa Chung was honoured with the 'British Style' award and Patrick Grant is this year's 'Menswear designer'. Lara Stone and Naomi Campbell were also presented with awards.
