Charlotte Gainsbourg : Heaven can wait... the French Chansoniette with a new song, new album and plenty of shoots to match
Charlotte Gainsbourg often comes across as an absent little girl, far away in a land of daydreams. However, a look back on her life up until now quickly reveals that she is a multi talent and isn’t just fond of dream but also doing. For example, with the release of her new album which she recorded with Beck.
For quite some time now, it has no longer been a necessity to mention who her father is. Her acting and musical talent apparently comes as second nature to her and she knows how to work it to the best of her ability.
IRM the album was released at the end of last year and unites a harmonious coexistence with edgy electro techno rhythms, the traditional French chanson and even American roots. ‘I think she has a whole lot to offer the music world. A lot goes on in her head’, says her producer, Beck. She is even set to soon perform at the Coachella Festival.
There is of course a video to accompany the ‘Heaven can wait’ song, directed by experimental director Keith Schofield. Following work for Lenny Kravitz and Supergrass, his latest piece is simply not to be missed. GoSee is pleased to present the clip.
FLAUNT magazine commissioned Kurt Iswarienko to photograph Charlotte in still, playful moments. She posed arm in arm with Beck (who could only make the shoot as a paper doll) for the cover of SNOOZER magazine, Japan. Photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino photographed her sitting on towers of instruments.
Charlotte Gainsbourg seems omnipresent. We can’t wait to see where we will spot her next.
