Deutscher Werbefilmpreis 2011 - the awards ceremony, the trailer, the winning spots, the sponsors, the after party with Saatchi & Saatchi - all on GoSee
The most creative advertising filmmakers in the nation have been honoured for the tenth time. The advertising division of Germany’s film and TV producers union ‘Allianz Deutscher Produzenten – Film & Fernsehen’ hosted over one thousand guests who were all eager to attend the sold out awards ceremony for the Deutschen Werbefilmpreis 2011 in Frankfurt’s Schauspiel venue.
The most successful productions at the Deutchen Werbefilmpreis 2011 were @radical.media with “Wachse über dich hinaus” and Trigger Happy Productions with “Jede Veränderung braucht einen Anfang". The spots were produced for Hornbach DIY stores and convinced the jury in two categories, one of which was even in the key category of best advertising film.
A total of 527 submissions competed for the 17 Hatto awards. The members of the advertising division from the Produzentenallianz had once again been well represented at the Deutschen Werbefilmpreis 2011: the winning spots for camera, music, styling and editing were produced by the department members Tempomedia, Final Touch, Embassy of Dreams and Czar Film. As far as agencies are concerned, Berlin made the race.
The award for the best university advertising film (endowed with 10,000 EUR by Acht Frankfurt) went to Hanna Maria Heidrich, Sebastian Bandel, Steffen Wilhelm and Jann Döppert from the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
The Produzentenallianz was represented by the chairman of the board Alexander Thies, the department board members Florian Sigl, Moritz von Schrötter, Martin Wolff and Sebastian Hellge as well as head of the department Torsten Levermann.
The illustrious guest list included numerous key players in the business such as Ole Peters (Sehsucht), Helmut Hartl (Embassy of Dreams) or Oliver Hack (Markenfilm Crossing). The two presenters - Carsten van Ryssen and Susanne Pätzold – as well as Casting Director Rolf Scheider and hosts Christine Henning and Roberto Cappelluti are household names and well known to the audiences.
The Pirate's Paradise Crew deserves a special mention – they immediately 'boarded' the smokers' tent directly in front of the entrance and just as you would expect from pirates, took off with quite a few bottles of Prosecco.
Presenter and actor Carsten van Ryssen organised an unexpected amateur casting with members of the audience for the 'Cast' category. “The candidate in question was so surprised, she did not manage to say a single word but she will surely remember her 'casting' for a long time”, says Rolf Scheider.
Another reason to scream – out of pleasure mind you – was the appearance of actress Susanne Pätzold (Switch Reloaded) who took to the stage as a Verena Poth lookalike (German celebrity and mega product endorser) and offered herself with a verbal gush for all non-existent (yet) advertising jobs out there – she even looked more convincing and crazy than the original.
As far as the after-show party is concerned, opinions varied – but as Rolf explained, “by 3am in the morning and after quiet a few Vodka Redbulls, the mood was quite raucous, yet the Schauspiel Frankfurt had to be emptied by then anyway”. “All of those who could not get enough made their way to Nu Soul, which turned out to be packed as always. Others chose the quieter alternative and settled in the Roomers Hotel's champagne bar.”
