The ’Pirates Party’ with Lion winners DDB Tribal and kempertrautmann, Steffen Gentis, Amir Kassaei, ... a GoSee report

As always, post-production company Pirates'N Paradise held their exclusive BBQ party on Cannes Beach. The guest list of truly top quality guests really is something unique to Cannes. This year the event was even more exclusive – and the guest list was even more coveted than ever before.

This is probably also related to the fact that the Pirates worked on several award-winning campaigns in post-production. Campaigns included the one for AIDS Foundation Germany, which won Gold and Bronze. The agency was kempertrautmann, Hamburg, and yes, shoot locations included the unique Dom cathedral in Cologne.

They were also involved in Volkswagen’s ‘make-up’ with Mr. Bob Berlin (Gold) and Bronze, as well as N-TV APP for the Euro-RSCG 2x Shortlist .

Great conversations and top networking are a guarantee in this laidback setting. Celebrations were had with the aforementioned winners, in person with Eric Schoeffler the Gold-Lion and Bronze-Lion for DDB, with Mr. Bob for Volkswagen ‘don't make up and drive’ plus Gold and Bronze with Kai Röffen from KT-West for the German AIDS foundation and the film ‘Every 18 Seconds Somebody dies of AIDS’.

‘At a later hour Henan Wensink from Soundscape once again ensured everyone hit the dance floor, including clients, creative, directors and CEOs, who are usually famed for their reserved nature. Marc Versteeg's, Pirates'N Paradise said a big ‘thanks Henan!’.

We spotted Michael M. Maschke, Amir Kassaei, Sönke Wortmann, Steffen Gentis, ...... and many, many more on and around the dance floor.

We made the most of the opportunity to ask Steffen, Head of TV BBDO Proximity, to give us his Cannes 2012 statement. His words; ‘it is my personal opinion that Cannes Week remains the best platform to view inspiring work and talks, and to meet the makers behind it. It is a unique opportunity to exchange ideas with creatives and filmmakers from around the world in an informal setting. I think that the explosion of categories is rather inflationary, all we need know are Lion categories for ‘Best Mobile Phone Video Shot on a Bicycle’ or ‘Best use of Branded Animals in a TV Reality Show’.
