GoSee loves ...Rural Route Film Festival : experimental film screening at the Museum of the Moving Image and preview of ‘Baraka’ director Ron Fricke’s latest film ‘Samsara’

On the first weekend in August, the Rural Route Film Festival will present a film screening at New York’s Museum of the Moving Image. The festival focuses on documentary and experimental film – ‘highlighting people, places, and cultures not normally represented in mainstream media’.

Ron Fricke’s experimental documentary ‘Baraka’ (1992) will be screened at the Friday opening. The film is unique in that it doesn’t have a plot, storyline, leading actors, dialogues or narrative. Baraka is a patchwork of scenes of human life on planet earth. The film was shot in 24 countries on six continents.

The highly anticipated sequel ‘Samsara’ (Oscilloscope Laboratories) will be screened as a preview. It will premiere on August 24 in the US and is set to open in European cinemas in 2013.

The festival will also present films including Robert Gardner’s documentary on the Andes…. GoSee presents the trailer, for further information and trailers go to ruralroutefilms.com.

The Museum of the Moving Image is located in Queens, New York City on the former site of the Astoria film studios.
