Happy Finish : launch their Moving Image Department and 'Telekinesis' moving image project by Ed James

Happy Finish presents one of their first moving image projects: 'Telekinesis' by acclaimed photographer Ed James. Ed has, like a growing number of photographers, embraced moving image as an integral part of his image making process.

As consumers expect more and more from their media interactions and advertisers taking tentative steps to augmented advertising, more and more photographers are becoming interested into directing moving image to accompany their still imagery.

“We have seen a massive growth in the photographers we work with shooting moving image recently, its an exciting time for them to develop their creative vision with both stills and moving image now on the same camera that then works for a multitude of medias. For many projects it makes more sense for the photographer to now be the director on moving parts of a campaign to make sure there is a consistent look and feel. This can be difficult if you have different directors for different parts of a project,” says director Richard Tisdall.

One of the challenges of photographers so far has been convergent cross-media post-production, to achieve the same key look over different parts of a project. With the development of Happy Finish’s moving image department, photographers are able to work side by side with colourists and retouchers to ensure every part of the project works perfectly together in style, grading and colour.
