'The Dancer' is a haunting fashion video featuring the very charismatic Malgosia BELA. She draws circles around herself, encircling our attention and casting us under her spell all at the same time. Just like a solitaire, this lonely soul glides across a wooden floor, her austere demeanour commanding the beholder. The sinister references of the imagery that dance dervish circles around madness bring to mind the black magic spectacles of late Alexander McQueen’s shows, such as the circles drawn in the Salem witch trial inspired A/W 2007 and the infamous mirrored ‘VOSS’ show for S/S 2001.

The series was initially published in 'The Lights, Camera, Action' #319, summer 2012, as photographed by Greg Kadel and styled by Havana Laffitte.

Malgosia celebrates fashion by Rick Owens, Vuitton, Calvin Klein and her capricious and nigh-delirious movements are coloured by the music of Stenfert Charles performed by Daniel Bensi.
