SHAKE - an overview of Iceland's upcoming fashion scene, meet & greet with Shadow Creatures, Kron by Kronkron dresses & tights SS11
The younger generations of Iceland were hit by the recession with full force, but something good tends to come of something bad. Reykjavik is still full of sparkling energy and creativity. One example is the former Toppstödin power plant located just outside the town gates, where young designers, photographers and filmmakers are beginning to settle.
This is where GoSee met with SHADOW CREATURES on the look book shoot for their new lingerie collection. The young label is run by sisters Sólveig Ragna Guðmundsdóttir, who studied architecture in Aarhus and Gunnhildur Edda, who graduated from the Icelandic Academy of The Arts.
After the shoot, Solveig explained that the two designers just managed to land first place at the Diet CocaCola Award and that the Diet Coke bottle they designed will be released at the same time as their first lingerie collection. The collection had just been presented during fashion week and we are pleased to present some collection shots, as well as the shoot's making-of and the first results.
SHADOW CREATURES fashion is available on Reykjavik's high street. At KIOSK Boutique (Laugarvegur 33) to be precise, which is run by a multitude of designers or via www.shadow-creatures.com.
The KRONKRON headquarters can also be found just opposite. The multi-brand store features hot brands such as Eley Kishimoto, Marc Jacobs, Bernhard Wilhelm, Henrik Vibskov and upcoming designers’ all displayed in a unique interior setting. It is the go-to-drug to make Icelandic fashionistas go wild. Naturally, the store also carries fashion and shoes by internationally sought-after label KRON by KRONKRON. We are showing the summer collection here on GoSee and the new look book is being worked on as we speak.
The SHAKE fashion short film provides a good overview of the current fashion scene and we are pleased to present it here on GoSee. The film by director Ragnar Agnarsson premiered at the 'Design March' opening at the Reykjavik Art Museum.
The Icelandic Fashion Institute and Inspired by Iceland commissioned the production of SHAKE. The creative director was Laufey Guðjónsdóttir and Ágúst Jakobsson was the DOP.
