tck, tck, tck ...... Kofi Annan and Bob Geldorf turn up the heat in Cannes for the Climate Conference

This year’s most present person at Cannes Lions was Michael Jackson. Thanks to the latest technology, the news of his passing away was twittered and text messaged along the Croisette like wild fire.

The next day even Bob Geldof wished his departed friend adieu, and every single radio and CD player was tuned into four decades worth of Michael’s catchy tunes.

Bob and Kofi had arrived to introduce their climate protection campaign, initiated by Live-Aid founder Sir Geldof, Kofi Annan, President of the Global Humanitarian Forum, David Jones, Global CEO of Havas and Herve de Clerck, Dream Leader of ACT Responsible.

The motto was “everyone can be a climate confederate”, and by doing so can pressurise our political representatives into coming to an environmentally friendly solution at the Climate Conference in Copenhagen this December. Kofi Annan said “the public has the power to make politicians act”.

The tck, tck, tck, … represents the ticking clock which is urging us to finally start acting now. The http://www.timeforclimatejustice.org  website encourages visitors to upload their own personal “tick” video, to create the world’s largest human clock.

In addition to this, a campaign song will soon follow, paying homage to the “We are the World“ Band Aid song, which was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Ritchie in 1985, and recorded with 45 artists. Needless to say that Africa is still suffering …..

Bob Geldof has once again rounded up countless artists for the latest song, a remake of the Midnight Oil classis “Beds are Burning”. The song will soon be uploaded to the campaign website.
