The beauty of a second - the most time efficient film award presented by Montblanc and compiled by Wim Wenders wins Bronze and Gold in Cannes

Over 3,000 single carefully and lovingly staged or coincidentally captured and just as treasured seconds were entered for the competition. A film in the bat of an eye.

The call for entries was made in October 2011 to celebrate the 190th anniversary of the company established by French watchmaker Nicolas Rieussec.

Nicolas was also the inspiration of the first mechanical clockwork Montblanc to be produced in the company’s atelier Le Locle. And that very watch also happened to be the competition prize.

Under the watchful eye of Wim Wenders, anyone could enter or upload his or her second, recorded on devices ranging from a mobile phone to a digital camera, the only condition was that the footage would last one treasured second.

The top 20 were selected by a jury headed by Wim (Paris, Texas, Buena Vista Social Club winner of the Golden Palm in Cannes and the Golden Lion in Venice) and presented on the montblanc-onesecond.com website. Two identical rounds later, 60 seconds of film were released on the Internet.

The shortlist was generated from the 60 seconds and the winners were honoured in an awards ceremony in Berlin shortly afterwards. In addition to this, you can make your own playlist using the winning seconds – and be in with the chance of winning a watch.

The campaign was developed by LEO BURNETT, Milan and was presented with a Bronze PR Lion and a Golden Lion in the DIRECT category.
