Ziad Ghanem S/S 2011 : Mother Russia and her illustrious following at London Fashion Week - all the usual madness, made in UK

Ziad Ghanem loves drama and plenty of it. He christened his Spring/Summer 2011 ready to wear collection ‘Россия-Матушка – Mother Russia‘ and served it up in a fittingly dramatic way.

He created a film spectacle, which embodies his contemporary take on dramatic Russia, harking back to the country’s spirituality and the Soviet era.

Ziad is inspired by the global influence on individuals. How modern cities are teeming with immigrants and whilst taking them up in society, they are also often exploited.

Next season’s collection is loaded with colours and patterns. Ziad experiments with gold masks and pastel coloured adornments, such as white feathers, arranged like a proud peacock’s fanned out feathers. His floaty fabrics are flowing and long, yet the sum of all these parts is a beautiful completeness.

The presentation took place during London Fashion Week at the Avalon. Presentation or perhaps more performance art? It’s hard to say. GoSee presents the expressive results and is already looking forward to what Ziad’s next season holds in store.
