Caroline Seidler : Josef FISCHNALLER's exhibition at the HILGER Gallery, scented brushstrokes by Padma BHATT and NEW entry Andrea KRIZMANICH

On Thursday the 25th of August, the exhibition 'PRÄCHTIG – dudes, hustlers and other weirdos' by photographer Josef FISCHNALLER will début at the Viennese Hilger Gallery.

“The exhibition references a lust for life, a presentable decadence that is more than just en vogue in the 21st century. Viewers of Josef Fischnaller's highly detailed and colourful compositions are challenged to filter out what appeals to their own imagination, memories and fantasies”, says the gallery. Carolineseidler.com has represented Josef for commercial productions since 2007.

The series thrives through the choice of characters, the details, the props, the elaborate garments made of paper, plastic, cardboard, fruit and champagne corks. Every single work is pervaded with pop-culture references.

'Isabella von B.' thrones on a bicycle, his 'Dinah Alisa' sports a piercing, the 'gallerist' wears an undergarment that is adorned with Euro bills. Wondrous things like bicycle tubes, spaghetti, a plucked chicken or a shimmering skull are all part of the concept.

Josef contradicts the notion of sex as a totalitarian construct. Bacchus, the Greek god of wine and rapture is portrayed as a female model in his work. The 'courtesan' work's subject is of a distinctively male connotation.

The pictures are created in his Berlin studio, in cooperation with stylists and costume designers. The clothes for each picture are created anew and are made from unusual contemporary materials.

His eye for discovering an individual’s uniqueness, combined with a talent of capturing a painterly perspective in photography, provides an entirely new range of perception.

Illustrator Padma BHATT presents perfume bottles : scented product images! Padma once again managed to win over an international market with her skilful brushstrokes.
