Kiki Kang - the hottest model export from China, photographed by Gyslain Yarhi for HARPER'S BAZAAR Singapore

Asian beauties often struggle to set foot in a fashion world dominated by western faces. On the one hand, this comes down to the respective location of fashion hotspots such as Paris, Milan and New York and on the other hand, the fact that China and Japan prefers to have big eyes and light hair featured on billboards too.

Nevertheless, Kiki Kang managed it. She is the Chinese answer to Cindy Crawford, even sporting the same distinctive characteristic.

At 1.8m, she probably towers over her whole family, but she is just the right size for the business. She has been in Vogue, fronted a Topshop campaign and even posed for Ellen von Unwerth's S/S 2010 Zag campaign.

Kiki adorns this month’s cover of HARPER'S BAZAAR Singapore, as photographed by GoSee member Gyslain Yarhi. The cover story and accompanying spread were produced in collaboration with fashion editor Kenneth Goh, with make-up by Tie Toyama and hair by Catherine Dargenton. The shoot took place at Hôtel Crillon and on the Place de la Concorde. Assistants Claude Gobillot and Fabrice Ronchon completed the team.

Kiki Kang was discovered in school two years ago and sent to an elite model contest. She didn’t make too much of a fuss of it, hardly spoke a word of English and had no idea that it would mark the start of her career.

Elite Barcelona began promoting her and she was in Paris for international jobs in no time. She daydreams of her hometown Sichuan, but moved to New York recently. Yet, it doesn’t quite feel like home, no wonder with all the travelling, poor thing.
