Claudia Bitzer : Tilt shift series for TELEKOM, SPARKASSEN- UND GIROVERBANDS' 'Gut' magazine, DIE ÖFFENTLICHE, GERMAN ACRON portraits at Albertusbogen as well as plenty of personal work and award winners
Ulrich HOPPE shot the cover of DEUTSCHEN SPARKASSEN- UND GIROVERBANDES’ ‘Gut’ magazine in white with a flower. He was commissioned to photograph products that represent freedom, bravery and helpfulness. Countless white objects were collected and then given an extra white varnish just before the shoot. The idea stemmed from the Kirchhoff Consult AG, Tim Faulwetter took care of the art direction.
This was followed by the big changes, which start on a small scale. The latest motif from Christian SCHMIDT’s tilt shift series for TELEKOM depicts children experimenting in a laboratory. Even the real Professor didn’t shy away from the opportunity of being shrunk down to miniature size for the award winning commercial campaign. Chrsitian was once again accompanied by his trusty team of CD Zoran Drobina and AB Wiebke Burmeister from Philipp und Keuntje, Hamburg, as well as Producer Tobias Seifert from ADD PICTURES, Munich.
Chrsitian’s Telekom series has been awarded another international prize. This time round he was presented with the PX3 Award, Prix de la Photographie – one of the largest photo awards in Europe with annual entries totalling over one thousand. The tilt shift images won the ‘Advertising Other’ category and came second in the ‘Advertising’ category.
Harry WEBER shot a total of seven motifs for DIE ÖFFENTLICHE insurance, Braunschweig. All of these images visualise a reduction to the most important elements in life: hands, a torso and a symbolic object are the focus of the series. Dievision, Hannover, created the campaign and Art Director Mathias Bauz directed the shoot.
Harry’s portraits, which he shot for GERMAN ACRON properties, grabbed attention through an unusual approach. The one-dimensional images adorn flags and the front of the Albertusbogen building in Düsseldorf, creating a stylish entrance for the luxury property company.
A new double portrait was shot of artists Daniele Buetti and Wolfgang Flad. Swiss photo and video artist Buetti gained recognition in the 90s for his manipulated images of supermodels. Wolfgang Flad is an artist from Berlin.
Harry’s work isn’t just popular in Germany; it is also met with acclaim on an international scale. For example, his ‘Street composing - Warschauer 3’ photo was recently selected from several thousand entries for the Photography Masters Cup.
His new personal works demonstrate that he isn’t just a master of serious and deep portraits. Two of his latest images show his love of people photography and his ability to take on a more tongue in cheek, entertaining approach.
Steffen SCHRÄGLE recently received the good news that several of his images and series have been awarded a variety of top international prizes.
Britian’s AOP-Award honoured his ‘Non-Commissioned Object Series’ of electricity masts in Zaragoza. His images will be exhibited alongside the other winners in London from 5 October until 14 October.
It was also confirmed that Steffen’s images aren’t just a hit in Europe, but also the rest of the world: Steffen’s bridge motifs won the first prize and his building series the third prize in the Architecture category at the International Photography Award IPA 2010. The winners were selected from 15,000 entries from 103 countries. The awards and prizes will be presented in October as part of the Lucie Awards Ceremony at New York’s Lincoln Center.
