Thomas VON SALOMON photographed a series for the latest issue of RAMP (nr.7) on the Opel 1928 rocket car, which saw Fritz von Opel reach a record-breaking 238 KM/h on Berlin’s Avus.
The race took place in front of 3,000 invited guests from politics, film and science. With each thrust of the accelerator, fast Fritz would light his next dose of rockets, which catapulted the vehicle to record-breaking speeds. 24 powder rockets with a total of 120 kilograms of explosives kept him going.
Thomas photographed the rocket racer in Frankfurt and on the Opel estate in Rüsselsheim. GoSee presents a selection of the results.
