Traska Andresen : with GEO in Patagonia, STERN, WELLA, ...
In the direction of the South Pole, on the lovely streets of South America, the Carretera Austral, photographer Conrad PIEPENBURG has been out and about in Patagonia. For a GEO Saison Reportage author Michael Obert and Conrad Piepenburg travelled to the most remote corners of Chile. In December the team travelled for two weeks through the most southern summit of South America, through Fjords, glaciers and along the Andes. They met interesting people, such as the founders of North Face and the biggest landowners of South America, who are not devoting themselves exclusively to the conservation of nature. Conrad photographed this reportage with the newest digital techniques, a camera that can produce 200 MB data pro second. So much, that the memory was quickly full and a new medium had to be found in the wilderness. The journey could be resumed after Conrad, who speaks fluent Spanish, managed to persuade a Chilean, to disassemble the hard drive of his computer and leave it to him. The reportage will feature in the April issue of Geo Saison, photo editor is Karin Rogers. For all those fond of travelling, here are a few motifs. In January it was then off to a photo production about the seven Canary Islands, the home of Conrad Piepenburg. La Palma, El Hierro, La Gomera, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.
