UPdate Library - - Meet the industry

There were a good 90 personally entered portfolios at this year's UPdate Library, which took place for the second time at the UPdate. The response was overwhelming – thank you again! Unfortunately, due to the flood of applicants, we were unable to take up all the portfolios for the portfolio viewing. As one might imagine, there was just far too too much to see – and that's why the whole event continues online at GoSee under www.GoSee.de/library for a whole year, with a direct link to the photographers' homepages.

At this point, we would also like to thank all the creatives that took the time to view the portfolios and often meet the photographers themselves. It goes to show that the new Portfolio Viewing tool, is certainly taking a step in the right direction. We are aware of the fact that this step can be made even bigger and more stable, which is why we have already added it to the UPdate 08 programme.

The Baustein Symposium was completely new to us. Despite the fact that a few of the events did not took place at the exact minute they were planned, neither our speakers nor visitors seemed affected. Karin and Bertram Schmidt-Friderichs (Hermann Schmidt Publishers) lectured in a relaxed atmosphere on the subject of typography, Lawyer Jens O. Brelle on the protection of intellectual property, Imke Meyer Minnemann c/o Corbis on right management, Peter Bialobrzeski on the connection between art and photography and Frank Gerlinger on the professional skill of the Cromabase.

We are very thankful for being given the opportunity to present such experts and are looking forward to working out the programme for next year's symposium.
