picture alliance : new content partner Mary Evans Picture Library and partner of the BCP Best fo Corporate Publishing Congress

Picture Alliance has now won over Mary Evans Picture Library as a new content partner and by doing so have expanded their historic portfolio. A total of 120,000 photos from the new British partners are now available to picture alliance clients in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

For over 40 years, the Mary Evans Picture Library has been counted amongst the leading specialists for historic photo material, especially in English speaking countries. The London-based agency is equally popular with editorial and creative clients, as they have a variable and highly interesting archive, which offers an array of rarities. In addition to classic photographs, the Mary Evans collection includes images of prints, posters, postcards as well as newspaper illustrations.

When it comes to content, the archive covers a vast spectrum: in addition to expected portraits and historic events, subjects such as transport, travel, entertainment, advertising, everyday life, science, society, nature and war. Not to mention the truly unusual selection of folklore and supernatural related imagery.

"I am delighted to be working with picture alliance as they can reach areas of the German market that other agencies do not. It is a pleasure to be working with dynamic and professional people who really value our content” says Paul Brown, Managing Director of the Mary Evans Picture Library.

Edith Thompson, CEO of picture alliance adds: “In these fast-paced times, when professional photos continuously loose in value through micro stock and digitalisation, historical images are becoming increasingly valuable. Now, with Mary Evans as our partner, who completes our historic selection perfectly, we can cater for a market where the demand for archive images is on the increase.”

The new collaboration with Mary Evans Picture Library will also expand picture alliance’s remembrance day portal and specifically expand the individual collections. In the portal all of the important days of the year and remembrance days are visually prepared up to three years in advance – currently up to 2012. In addition to the elaborate material from the dpa Archive, it also includes further renowned partners such as akg-images, kpa photo archives, imagno, Votava, Terra Incognita and Heritage Images.

Furthermore, picture alliance is the partner of the BCP Best of Corporate Publishing Congresses on 30 June in Hamburg. With around 600 participants, the BCP is one of the largest industry conventions in Europe.

As part of the partnership, Forum Corporate Publishing can access a series of photo, design and databank services from the agency. The Frankfurt-based stock agency is integrated in the BCP Congress in return. They will also attend the BCP Congress as partners with a stall on 30 June.

Picture alliance will provide a professional photographer to document Europe’s largest Corporate Publishing competition. The first photos were produced at the jury meeting from 15 to 16 March in Munich. In addition to this, the Frankfurt-based agency teamed up with the FCP to design, programme and host an online picture gallery, which already includes the images of the jury meeting and will continually be refreshed with additional photos during the congress.

Selected motifs from the congress will be used as press images on the obs portal on www.picture-alliance.com and sent off as a picture collection to media and clients.
