NEW : Mirage Fashion and Swimwear Magazine, Frankfurt/Cape Town

Mirage Magazine, well, Mirage Fashion and Swimwear Magazine to be precise, a cooperation between Cape Town-based photographer Henrik Purienne (ID, Arena, Adidas, as well as various music videos) and German Creative Director and Editorial Designer Frank Rocholl (Audi, Smart, Hugo, Lancome, Levis, Jil Sander), is NEW at GoSee.

The latest issue covers the themed concept of 60s/70s jetset hedonism, meets 21 Century voyeurism. The issue is a sexy homage to the jetset joie de vivre of the 60s and 70s, equally inspired by the futuristic fashions of the times André Courrèges, Paco Rabanne, Pierre Cardin), the music (Velvet Underground), the photography (Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin), not forgetting the architecture and interior design (Oscar Niemeyer, Joe Colombo), car design (Lamborghini, Masserati), as well as the female icons (Lauren Hutton, Jane Birkin, Britt Ekland).

Mirage juxtaposes this world with young photography, reports on “up and coming personalities” from music, fashion and architecture, as well as trend labels. The list of contributing fashion photographers reflects a who-is-who of the current scene (Jimmy Hansen, Cameron Krone, Chatwick Tyler, Klaus Thymann, Jonathan Leder, Emir Eralp, Laurence Ellis, and many more).

Mirage functions as a collectible picture book object (360 pages), the layout consciously plays with a union of avant-garde French design style, disco gold typography, erotica without the slightest hint of cheapness and a whole host of “rediscoveries” which are on an entirely different level to the usual 70s clichés.

The second issue is out in August 2009, to coincide with the fashion weeks – we can’t wait!
