Photographers from 171 countries have submitted 112,000 photographs to be considered for one of the prestigious Sony World Photography Awards 2012. Five photographers from Germany made it onto the shortlist: Jan von Holleben, Elizaveta Porodina, Frauke Thielking, Matthias H. Risse and Peter Franck, the latter of which already managed to land on the first place in last year's 'landscape' category. This year, he is a finalist in no less than three categories.
Oliver Kaye, student at the FH Munich was awarded the Canon Profifoto newcomer award, acting for the Minusvier group. Minusvier is a project of four young photographers, who are currently chipping away at the books in the 5th term of their 'Fotodesign' course at the FH Munich. Oliver Kaye, Nicolas Droessel, Diar Nedamaldeen and Markus Brönner realised a picture series about exaggerated momentums.
