A MAGAZINE AND THE STORY OF A MUG • The magazine for smaller homes is finally here: Apartamento! with a Food Marketo Event and 'Story of a Mug' Release Party in Stockholm
There are quite a few interior magazines outside there, they come bearing furnishing tips, suggested buys and utopian home stories. Apartamento is different. Twice a year, the magazine discusses more than locations and objects: it's about people and their own little environment, about home, personal expression and domestic creativity. A publication as cosy as a cuddly fireside sofa.
The first issue in April 2008 sported a unique design, which they have stuck to ever since. The covers definitely convey the philosophy behind the concept: Mankind and Individuality. The wording is in English, almost universal.
The international team, which sweetens every issue with a fancy serving of contributors has its headquarters in Barcelona and Milan, as well as everywhere else that exciting things are just about to happen. The editor in chief is multi talent Marco Velardi from Milan.
Apart from the magazine, there are numerous events and projects, which spread the familiar atmosphere out into the world. 'Food Marketo' for example is half a pop-up shop, half a cooking course – selling designer objects and trying recipes. Unlike anything grandma ever made mind you!
The latest project to come from the Apartamento family is the book 'The Story of a Mug'. 96 pages strong, the book is the English re-release of the Swedish original 'Historien om en Mug', published by Byggstudio in 2008. The next release event of the book will take place on the 10-12th December in Stockholm, with a release party on Saturday night!
