21st Century by William Eggleston, double exhibition with new works in London and NewYork

The Victoria Miro Gallery (London) and the Cheim & Read Gallery (New York) simultaneously present the 21 Century by William Milestone exhibition.

William Milestone is one of the most influential photographers of the last 50 years. He was born in 1939 and spent almost his whole life in his home turf Memphis, Tennessee.

Credit goes to him for preparing colour's way back into art photography. Due to their subversive nature, his pictures, unobtrusive on the first glance, have altered the way we look at the world today forever.

His pictures immortalize the profane, everyday life, details that would have gone unnoticed and forgotten otherwise. Parking lots, toilets, shopping windows, trash. Yet, behind all the fortuities lies an instinctive approach to colour and form.

21st Century is showing us new photographs with topics of increasing abstractness.
