Gunda Patzke : welcome to the enchanting world of Karin Berndl

Photographer Karin BERNDL is originally from Austria, but found her true creative home in London, 11 years ago. A devoted team player, she loves to surround herself with talented people and sees her job as a “Gesamt-Kunstwerk” of all those involved.

Karin’s work probably appears so effortless through her down to earth graduation from Vienna’s photography college, where she focused on precision, lighting and exactness, coupled with fantasy, curiosity and unusual perspectives. It hardly comes as a surprise that the final images often look just like fairytale worlds, often published in BOOKLET magazine.

This bewitching photographer is fascinated by unusual materials, jewellery, art objects and fabrics. Since she is unable to actually collect everything, she captures the volatile aspect of these objects in her unmistakable photos.
Karin recently photographed the launch of MAXFACTOR False Lash Effect Mascara. The results are stunning lashes in the typical Berndl style. She also produced a commercial campaign for English jewellery company BOODLES, which is currently circulating the UK. Another BOODLES shoot saw her realize their WONDERLAND campaign, comprising a limited edition of 13 jewellery pieces.

She was also handed over the “artistic license” for two editorials: she shot close-up beauties for HARPER'S BAZAAR, London and realized four breathtaking stills and a fashion photo opener for the “For Your Eyes Only” issue of BOOKLET magazine.

Karin shot an ad campaign for French lenses company; VARILUX, followed by a spring-like beauty campaign for Irish luxury department store; BROWN THOMAS. In addition to this, she realized the MERCEDES-BENZ, France, "Laissez-vous envouter" internet campaign and a SELFRIDGES Christmas campaign.

DEUTSCH VOGUE were equally impressed by her filigree and detailed work, and asked her to shoot a beauty special with stills and beauty shots.
