Lehmann Maupin Gallery, New York presentsJürgen Teller - Paradis

It is Jürgen Tellers' fifth exhibition already, at the Lehmann Maupin Gallery. This time, Jürgen shows intimate pictures, which emerged from an environment that stands for tranquillity and publicity, for style and history: The Paris Louvre in Paris.

The photographer composed his motifs for French magazine PARADIS. The protagonists, which he chose for his photographs, were not first timers in front of his camera – Charlotte Rampling and Raquel Zimmerman manoeuvre naked and poised around the exhibition pieces. And despite the overwhelming backgrounds, among which the visibly amused smirking Mona Lisa, Jürgen Teller succeeded in capturing the seemingly intimate atmosphere.

Other than the statues at the Louvre, Teller's images describe no beauty standards, but are a homage to women and the natural, human posture. Again, by using this very expression, he manages to balance between commercial and non-commercial work.

We have learned, that by roughly the end of September a leather bound book will be published to accompany the exhibition.
