Philip-Lorca diCorcia : ELEVEN, exhibition of the legendary W series and signing session at David Zwírner Gallery, New York, GoSee images exclusive

Between 1997 and 2008, Philip-Lorca diCorcia photographed 11 series for the legendary W Magazine, in collaboration with Dennis Freedman, the magazine's creative director.

The series are distinguished by their complexity and narrative scope and are a strong counterpart to the sometimes slightly lightweight editorials of our time – they are engraved in the memories of the eyes of the beholder.

Luxurious locations, including a Lautner house in LA, the Mariinsky Opera in St. Petersburg or a slightly seedy 'Club Echangiste” (swinger club) in Paris, combined with the elaborate styling to boot and possibly even more exclusive models, such as household names Nadja Auermann, Kristen McMenamy, Karen Elson, Shalom Harlow and even Hannelore Knuts.

Yet, fashion giants such as Isabelle Huppert and designer Marc Jacobs can also be spotted mingling in the intricate sceneries.

For the first time, the exhibition presents the images in large format to celebrate the book’s release. A must go-see we are sure.

A signing session will take place during the exhibition with Philip-Lorca diCorcia and editor Dennis Freedman in person. On Saturday the 12th of February from 4pm to 8pm, the gallery is bound to be the busiest spot in New York.

Philip-Lorca diCorcia was born in 1951 in Hartford, Connecticut. He studied at Yale University, where he was awarded a Master of Fine Arts in Photography in 1979.

He lives and works in New York and is a lecturer at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
